Gregory Buncke, MD

Bio

Dr. Greg Buncke is a plastic, hand and microsurgeon. He received his M.D. from Georgetown University in Washington, DC. He completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Stanford University and did a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the Davies Medical Center in San Francisco, where he remains in practice. Dr. Buncke is Board Certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery, and has a Certificate of Added Qualification in Surgery of the Hand. He is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, and a member of several societies, including the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and the American Society for Surgery of the Hand. Dr. Buncke has published numerous articles related to a wide variety of plastic, hand and microsurgery topics.

Rudolf Buntic, MD

Bio

Dr. Rudy Buntic is a nationally and internationally renowned plastic, hand and microsurgeon. A native of Canada, his clinical interests include reconstructive microsurgery with a focus on reconstruction of traumatic injuries and defects caused by cancer. He emphasizes the most advanced microsurgical techniques that use the patient's own tissues for reconstruction.

Bauback Safa, MD, MBA, FACS

Bio

Dr. Safa is an internationally renowned reconstructive microsurgeon and hand surgeon at the Buncke Clinic, widely considered to be the birthplace of microsurgery. He graduated from the University of Virginia as an Echols Scholar and then obtained his MD from the Stanford University School of Medicine. He subsequently completed his residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Stanford, followed by a fellowship in microsurgery and hand surgery at The Buncke Clinic where he has been on staff since 2007. He is board certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery with a certificate of added qualification in Hand Surgery (CAQ). Dr. Safa serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Surgery at both Stanford and UCSF divisions of plastic surgery. He also holds an MBA from the University of California Berkeley.

Andrew Watt, MD

Bio

Dr. Andrew Watt is a plastic, hand and microsurgeon. He received his M.D. from the The University of Michigan School of Medicine. He completed his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the Stanford University Plastic Surgery Residency Program and did a fellowship in Hand and Microsurgery at the University of Washington, in Seattle, Washington. He graduated from Indiana University, Summa Cum Laude.

Walter Lin, MD

Bio

Dr. Lin is an attending Plastic Surgeon with subspecialization in reconstructive microsurgery and hand surgery. After graduating with honors from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) with a B.S. in Neuroscience, he remained in Boston and earned his medical degree at Harvard Medical School in the highly selective Health Sciences & Technology program (Harvard-MIT HST). From there, he transitioned to the west coast and completed residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). With a strong drive to subspecialize and advance the field of microsurgery, he completed an additional year of fellowship training in Hand, Microvascular, and Transgender Surgery at The Buncke Clinic in San Francisco.

Dr. Lin joined The Buncke Clinic after completion of fellowship and is Board Certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. He has particular interest in advancing care in microsurgical reconstruction of the extremities, breast, and lymphatic systems.

Brian Pridgen, MD

Bio

Dr. Pridgen is a plastic and reconstructive surgeon. He completed subspecialty training in hand and upper extremity surgery at a combined plastic and orthopedic surgery fellowship. His clinical interests in hand and upper extremity surgery include fracture care from the distal radius to the fingers, wrist arthroscopy, arthritis, Dupuytren’s, tendon surgery, vascular disorders including Raynaud’s and scleroderma, and complex trauma requiring microsurgical reconstruction. Additionally, he has an interest in peripheral nerve surgery, including compression neuropathy, nerve transfer, nerve repair, and treatment of neuromas and painful amputation sites with targeted muscle reinnervation (TMR) and regenerative peripheral nerve interface (RPNI).


Austin Hembd, MD

Bio

Dr. Hembd Hembd is a plastic, hand, and reconstructive microsurgeon. He joined The Buncke Clinic after completion of his hand and upper extremity fellowship training at the Curtis National Hand Center. His clinical interests include upper extremity trauma and fracture care, lower extremity salvage, treating Kienbock's disease and scaphoid non-unions with vascularized bone flaps, oncologic reconstruction, and peripheral nerve surgery including brachial plexus injuries and spasticity.
